W & D McCulloch Rail Division are a company that are specialists in rail handling and rail logistics that provide a highly successful range of services on the rail infrastructure, making it the U.K.’s number one company in its field.

With the aid of our highly trained and motivated workforce W & D McCulloch Rail Division lead the way in delivering rail from the worksite to its final position before installing it quickly and efficiently.

We are also the country's leading company at recovering scrap rail with our unique system. We can remove the scrap from the infrastructure to a designated area to allow the rail to be recycled or re-used.

With the aid of a specifically developed machine, called a TRAC RAIL TRANSPOSER, that is fully designed and built by W & D McCulloch Rail Division on their premises in Ballantrae, Scotland we safely achieve very high levels of productivity whilst re-railing.

The re-railing process is normally slow and labour intensive. By eliminating manual handling the Trac Rail Transposer is inherently safer, quicker and less labour intensive as well as being more cost effective than conventional machines.

The Trac Rail Transposer is designed to withstand the harsh railway environment and is manufactured to be strong and long lasting.

The Trac Rail Transposer is a unique piece of equipment that has many major benefits over other machines that can do the same job. Some of these major benefits include:

  • Able to work under live OHL equipment (no isolation required)
  • Output for installation is greater and safer than using RRV and thimble
  • Less labour intensive than using RRV (no crane controller required)
  • Does not block adjacent lines or tunnels
  • Can be used to great effect on single lines or tunnels
  • Can move rails from one road to another unlike RRV
  • Cost effective against a RRV
  • Easily transported to and from sites
  • Fail safe stopping when levers are released so unable to run away

W & D McCulloch Rail Division's Mission Statement
Using the best mix of technology and a highly trained workforce allows W & D McCulloch Rail Division to deliver to our clients the best possible standard of workmanship, at a competitive price, within the Railway Industry.
